Relationship Recovery Intensive Outpatient Program (RR-IOP)

A Structured Path Toward Recovery, Healing, and Healthier Relationships

At The Growth Center for Counseling and Wellness, we recognize that compulsive sexual behavior, problematic pornography use, chronic infidelity, intimacy concerns, and relationship distress can impact far more than one area of life. They can affect emotional well-being, self-worth, trust, communication, intimacy, and the ability to maintain healthy relationships.

Our Relationship Recovery Intensive Outpatient Program (RR-IOP) provides a structured, trauma-informed, and evidence-based level of support for adults who need more than traditional weekly therapy but do not require residential treatment.

The RR-IOP is an 8-week intensive outpatient program designed to help participants understand the patterns contributing to their behaviors, develop healthier coping and emotional regulation skills, strengthen accountability, and build the foundation for sustainable relationship recovery.

What the Program Addresses

The RR-IOP is designed for adults experiencing concerns such as:

  • Compulsive sexual behavior
  • Problematic pornography use
  • Chronic or repeated infidelity
  • Difficulty maintaining healthy sexual boundaries
  • Intimacy and relationship concerns
  • Shame and guilt related to sexual behavior
  • Difficulty with emotional regulation
  • Relationship distress and communication difficulties
  • Betrayal-related relationship challenges
  • Difficulty maintaining recovery without structured support

What Makes RR-IOP Different?

The RR-IOP combines group therapy, individual therapy, structured recovery work, psychoeducation, accountability, and relationship-focused interventions within one coordinated treatment experience.

Participants receive:

Three 1.5-hour group sessions each week
Structured group therapy and psychoeducation provide opportunities to learn, process, practice new skills, and receive feedback in a supportive environment.

Weekly Individual Therapy
Individual sessions focus on treatment planning, trauma processing, family history, relationship concerns, accountability, and barriers to recovery.

Weekly Recovery Assignments
Participants complete structured exercises and accountability assignments designed to help them apply what they are learning outside of treatment.

Partner/Couples Therapy
Partners may have opportunities to participate in betrayal trauma support, psychoeducation, boundary development, emotional regulation, safety planning, and trust-rebuilding work.

Building Recovery That Lasts

Our goal is not simply to help participants stop a behavior. The goal is to help them understand the function, patterns, triggers, emotions, and relationship dynamics connected to that behavior and develop healthier ways of responding.

Throughout the program, participants work toward:

  • Greater emotional regulation
  • Reduced compulsive sexual behaviors
  • Increased accountability
  • Stronger relapse-prevention skills
  • Improved communication
  • Healthier boundaries
  • Reduced shame
  • Improved relationship functioning
  • Greater psychological flexibility
  • A sustainable recovery lifestyle

Measuring Progress

Participants complete clinical assessments at intake, midpoint, and discharge to help evaluate progress and guide treatment. Depending on clinical appropriateness, assessments may address anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, sexual behavior patterns, relationship satisfaction, and recovery readiness.

Your Recovery Can Begin Here

You do not have to navigate compulsive sexual behavior, relationship distress, or the aftermath of betrayal alone.

The Relationship Recovery Intensive Outpatient Program offers a structured environment where individuals can take responsibility for their recovery, develop healthier patterns, and begin creating the emotional and relational foundation necessary for lasting change.

Eight weeks can be the beginning of something different.
